Baldwin Preparatory Academy recently announced that, after just one year in operation, it has received more than 2,000 student applications, with 770 students —including 270 seniors—admitted. The school received a $300,000 grant from the Schmieding Foundation, a national nonprofit focused on education and healthcare innovation; 45 students completed healthcare internships with local providers; 12 teacher cadet students signed letters of intent to pursue careers in education; two students were selected for the inaugural cohort of FAME – Built by Baldwin, supporting advanced manufacturing careers; and others joined programs like the Baldwin County Utilities Summer Apprenticeship. Launched by Baldwin County Public Schools in partnership with the Baldwin County Economic Development Alliance, the school blends academics with real-world experience to give students academic rigor, workforce exposure and a head start on future success. Students have participated in internships, apprenticeships and career development across high-demand fields.
