Community College Apprenticeships Expand

A partnership between the state community college system and the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship now allows more students to gain paid, on-the-job experience while working toward a degree, AL.com reports. All apprentices participating in state-registered programs will be paid while they are training on the job, with the remainder of their tuition paid by their employer, and can transition directly into full-time work after they earn their credentials. Every community or technical college in Alabama now offers at least one paid, state-registered apprenticeship for students to explore careers in several different trades and industries. In Mobile, Bishop State Community College is participating with Electromechanical Technician and Industrial Maintenance Repairer apprenticeships. In Bay Minette, Coastal Alabama Community College is participating with Computer Support Specialist, CNC Set-up Program, Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Accounting Technician, Building Maintenance Repairer, Construction Craft Laborer, Heating and Air-Conditioner Installer/Servicer, Stamping Press Operator, Surgical Technologist, Survey Drafter, and Tool and Die Maker apprenticeships.
