Elberta Elementary Named Blue Ribbon School

ELBERTA, Ala. — Elberta Elementary School in Baldwin County was among only five Alabama schools that won the nationwide 2022 National Blue Ribbon for exemplary performance on state assessments, AL.com reported. The award is the highest national honor given by the U.S. Department of Education to a school. As a Title I school, more than 40% of its children are economically disadvantaged. Elberta, a first-time winner, joins 120 Alabama public and private schools awarded the Blue Ribbon since the program began in 1982.This year’s awards were based on either a school’s overall academic performance or on making notable progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Elberta was among those in the “Exemplary High Performing” category, meaning it was in the top 15% of all schools in performance on statewide assessments in English and mathematics.
