Orange Beach City Schools recently announced it has earned Cognia Accreditation. Cognia is a nonprofit that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts and education service providers. It nationally recognizes districts that meet rigorous standards focused on productive learning environments, equitable resource allocation that meets learners’ needs and effective leadership. To receive this accreditation, Orange Beach City Schools said it participated in an extensive self-assessment process and comprehensive evaluation led by Cognia experts who compared the procedures and practices of all aspects of the district to research-based standards and evidence-based criteria. To earn Cognia accreditation, a school district must implement a continuous improvement process and submit it for internal and external review. Schools in good standing can maintain their certification for a six-year term.
