University Of Mobile Doctor Of Nurse Anesthesia Program Opens

The University of Mobile’s (UM) new Doctor of Nurse Anesthesia Practice program has been accredited, becoming the only accredited program of its kind in a four-state region, the school recently announced. News broke in February (UM Announces Region’s First Dnap Program) on the 36-month doctoral degree program, a blended program combining onsite and online learning. The Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, the Alabama Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges are the accrediting organizations. The specialty is expected to grow by more than 30% in the next decade, the Bureau of Labor Statistics commented. Applications from those with a bachelor’s degree and more than a year of critical care nursing experience will be considered in July for the first cohort of students to start in August, and UM is now accepting applications for the second cohort, who will begin the program in August 2022.
