Vocational Scholarship Fund Established

The Baldwin County Education Coalition has announced an agreement with JLS International to establish the JLS International Vocational Scholarship Endowment Fund. The initiative aims to support Baldwin County public school students pursuing career and technical education (CTE). In partnership with the coalition, JLS, a mechanical contractor with longstanding ties to Baldwin County and a location in Robertsdale, has committed $500,000 to endow the scholarship fund, with the intent to reach $1 million, which will exclusively benefit CTE students. Additional donations will be made as funds become available. The endowment is open to further contributions from both corporate and individual donors who share a commitment to advancing technical education for Baldwin County students. The fund is to help remove financial barriers for students pursuing technical careers. It will be administered by a scholarship committee appointed by the coalition’s board of directors. Annual scholarships, each valued at $1,000, will be awarded upon graduation. These scholarships can be used to cover tuition for certifications or to purchase tools and equipment necessary for the recipient to begin their career. For more information on the fund or to contribute to the endowment, contact Terry Burkle at email or phone: 251-942-6695.
