Joe Jefferson Players To Present Escape To Margaritaville

MOBILE, Ala. — Joe Jefferson Playhouse will present Jimmy Buffett’s musical, Escape to Margaritaville, in Mobile this summer, AL.com reported. The company’s 75th season is to open with Alabama’s first homegrown presentation of the show on August 5 and run through August 21. The musical is written by Greg Garcia and Mike O’Malley, featuring Buffett’s songs in a story of tropical escapism and romance. It premiered in 2017 and ran on Broadway for four months in 2018. This production will be directed by Gene Murrell, with Jake Coleman as assistant director, Stan Chapman as music director, Anna Fillingim as choreographer and Sam Watkins as stage manager. The playhouse is closing its current season with Footloose through June 26. Other shows planned for the 2022-2023 season are The Crucible, Rent, Anne & Emmett, Brighton Beach Memoirs and Company.
