Affordable House Completed In West Mobile

A house at 2916 Gaslight Lane South in Mobile was recently opened by the City of Mobile as affordable housing. Developed through the city’s Homeownership Provides Equity (HoPE) program, the new house is the result of the city acquiring the property after the former house there was condemned due to blight and an abandoned swimming pool. The new single-family home was developed by Dortch, Figures & Sons, which added additional amenities to the property at its own expense. This is the first house in West Mobile the city has constructed through HoPE, a voucher-to-home-ownership program that aims to create affordable infill housing and promote homeownership for the financially disadvantaged in Mobile County.
