Africatown Brownfields Assessment Meeting Scheduled

The City of Mobile and its grant partners will be hosting a community meeting on October 24 regarding the ongoing U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Brownfields Assessment in the Africatown community on October 24 at 6 p.m. at the Robert Hope Community Center in Mobile and on Zoom. The city said that, over the last two years, it has worked with the community to assess the environmental conditions of several properties of interest in Africatown. In this meeting, the city will join its consultant C.E.R.M. to discuss the status of the USEPA Brownfields Assessment in Africatown and the results it has yielded so far. The assessment determines if any environmental remediation is necessary and helps create a plan for redeveloping specific properties. A recording of the meeting will be shared on social media. Questions and feedback may be submitted to email.
