Africatown Welcome Center Survey Open

A survey gathering thoughts on initial design concepts of the Africatown Welcome Center is open for Africatown residents through June 9. It will allow respondents to weigh in on how the community space should look and feel after its completion. Following the survey’s closure, three early-design alternatives will be combined into one concept that will guide the center’s general shape, form, color and appearance as Mott MacDonald and its team fully design it. The full design is scheduled to be completed in October. These early concepts, called "Monument," "Town" and "Connection," feature different potential layouts and aesthetic ideas but the same core components: restrooms; meeting spaces; and areas for informational displays, exhibits and public performances. Questions about the project may be sent to email, and project text notifications may be subscribed to by texting “MOBILEAFRICATOWNWC” to 91896.
