Foley, Riviera Utilities Partner To Light Water Towers

The City of Foley and Riviera Utilities are partnering to spend $19,600 to light two water towers in the city, AL.com reports. The cost of the project will be split evenly by the two entities. Called “Light up the Tanks,” it will involve placing LED lights on two of the city’s three water towers, adding lighting back to the towers following a repainting project. “Our logos on the water tanks were lit at one time, but after they were painted, the infrastructure to light them was gone,” Foley Mayor Ralph Hellmich said. The effort is to promote Foley’s logo and name. Among the fastest-growing cities in the state, Foley is a popular place for shopping among travelers who visit the coastal area. Hellmich said the new lights will use less electricity than the lighting the towers had before the repainting project. The expense includes installation of new wiring, conduit and eight lights along the tank handrails to illuminate the city logo.
