Housing First Hires Director, Helps Issue Vouchers

MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile’s Housing First, Inc. has hired Kendell Young as its community outreach director. Young comes to Housing First from the Mobile nonprofit Waterfront Rescue Mission, having served there for the past 10 years in several leadership roles, most recently as operations manager. He is a native of Mobile and holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s of Divinity. Housing First serves Mobile and Baldwin counties in providing direct service to homeless clients through programs funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, The Veterans Administration and private donors. It is currently working with the Mobile Housing Authority to issue emergency housing vouchers to clients currently enrolled with Housing First to allow established clients to maintain stable housing, while freeing up spots in community housing for clients experiencing homelessness.
