MFRD Gains Another Accreditation

The City of Mobile Fire-Rescue Department (MFRD) has received “Internationally Accredited Agency” status with the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI) for meeting the criteria established through CFAI’s voluntary self-assessment and accreditation program. The department is one of more than 300 agencies to achieve the status. It also became the ninth fire department in the country that holds the distinction of an Insurance Services Office 1 rating, Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS) accredited status and Commission on Fire Accreditation accredited status. “The journey to accreditation unfolded over a two-year period and rested upon the collective contributions of many individuals,” Fire Chief Jeremy Lami explained. As with the CAAS accreditation awarded earlier this year, “the CFAI accredited agency status shows a commitment to adhering to best industry practices to provide the highest quality of service to the community. The ongoing self-assessment provides a framework for continued self-improvement,” the department added.
