Mobile Brings Mission Serve to Africatown

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson announced that 10 locations throughout the Africatown and Plateau area were re-roofed and repainted by more than 220 volunteers from Alpharetta, Georgia-based nonprofit Mission Serve this week. The City of Mobile’s Volunteer Painting Program, “which uses federal funding to cover the hard cost of repairs and improvements to homes in underserved communities,” Stimpson said, helped bring them to the communities. There, they replaced the roofs on nine houses and gave seven houses fresh coats of paint. The volunteers represented diverse ages, Christian denominations and geographic locations.
