Mobile International Airport Construction, Pricing Update

Work is continuing on schedule at Mobile International Airport at Brookley, WPMI reported. What will be the terminal building is now under a roof, and concrete supports for the five-floor parking garage are rising out of the ground. The project is progressing as anticipated, said Andy Wilson, the recently appointed executive director of the Mobile Airport Authority: “We just finished our first round of structural [inspections] by the design engineers. They’ll be back in January to complete that exercise.” He added that bigger planes and more seat choices than are available now at the Mobile Regional Airport will be at the new airport when it opens in March 2026, adding, “If people start to use the airport, the airlines will respond accordingly, putting larger aircraft in. For them to fill up the airplanes, they need to offer a broader tier of pricing structure. They want to sell the whole airplane. So you’ll find the back 10 rows of the airplane will be $99.”
