Mobile Opens Yearly Critical Home Repair Program

MOBILE, Ala. — The City of Mobile’s neighborhood development department is accepting applications for its Critical Repair Grant Program through April 29. The federally backed program assists qualifying low-income homeowners with repairs that can help secure their homes, though the city says, “Funds are extremely limited.” The focus this year is, again, on repairing roofs. Applications are approved based on need, and applicants must own and occupy the home as their primary residence, meet home income requirements and have a will. An in-person application event is being held at New Jerusalem Baptist Church on April 13 at 10 a.m.-noon. For more information, call 251-208-6294.
