MPD’s Next Citizens Academy Coming Up

The Mobile Police Department’s (MPD) C251: Citizens Academy is taking applications for its spring program through February 20. Running between March 11 and April 15, the academy gives citizens an up-close look at what officers do, how they’re trained and the tools they use. Classes meet once a week, on a weeknight, for 10 weeks, with two field trips on Saturdays and cover a variety of topics, including crime scenes, traffic operations, bomb detail and crime prevention. Applicants who meet the requirements of being at least 21 years old, having no significant arrest history, having a valid driver’s license, and passing a background check will be admitted on a first- come, first-serve basis.
