WAVE Transit Wins Grant

MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile’s WAVE Transit System and the City of Mobile recently won a $4.8-million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation that will, with local matching funds, help modernize the entire fixed-route fleet. This includes 12 additional buses to make the system’s entire fleet less than three years old. The grant application was selected out of thousands of submissions from around the country. Funding had already been set aside for nine new buses (BBN #62), including five that are already on the road.
