City Of Bay Minette Approves AltaPointe Partnership

The Bay Minette City Council has approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the City of Bay Minette and AltaPointe Health Systems to provide virtual mental health crisis support for the Bay Minette Police Department. Through the partnership, Bay Minette police officers will have access to technology allowing them to connect individuals experiencing a behavioral health crisis with qualified mental health professionals in real time while in the field. Set to begin on June 1, the program is designed to enhance crisis response efforts, improve access to appropriate care and support safe and effective de-escalation during mental health-related incidents. The initiative will provide officers with direct virtual access to behavioral health specialists who can assist with crisis assessments, guidance, recommendations and coordination of appropriate mental health resources and services. In addition to supporting individuals in crisis, the program will also provide specialized training opportunities for officers to further enhance their understanding of behavioral health issues and crisis de-escalation techniques.
