Infirmary Cancer Care (ICC) Hires Physician
MOBILE, Ala. — Mobile’s Infirmary Health recently announced the addition of Dr. Rodney P. Rocconi to ICC, where he will serve as associate director and director of research. Rocconi will establish his practice with Diagnostic & Medical Clinic at ICC, while also serving as professor of gynecologic oncology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Rocconi completed his medical degree and gynecologic oncology fellowship at UAB. He is board certified in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has given more than 200 presentations at national meetings, been published more than 120 times and has served as principal investigator in more than 60 clinical trials. He has also received the Gynecologic Cancer Foundation Ovarian Cancer Research Award and the Gynecologic Oncology Group Young Investigator Research Award. Rocconi is also an invited associate member of the National Cancer Institute Early Detection Research Network and has served in numerous national leadership roles in the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the Society of Gynecologic Oncology, the NRG Oncology Cooperative Group, the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and multiple Department of Defense Ovarian Cancer Research Program sections. He was also selected to participate in the ASCO Leadership Development Program.
