Infirmary Health/Gulf Orthopaedics First To Offer Intracept Procedure

Infirmary Health is now offering a new treatment for chronic back pain with the Intracept procedure. It said that Dr. Leslie Rush, a pain management physician with Gulf Orthopaedics, performed the first Intracept procedure in the Gulf Coast Region at Infirmary Health’s Daphne Surgery Center. Intracept is a minimally invasive procedure that targets a specific type of chronic low back pain known as vertebrogenic pain. The procedure utilizes a specialized probe that is inserted into the vertebrae, targeting the basivertebral nerve (BVN). The probe uses radiofrequency energy to heat the BVN, effectively blocking the transmission of pain signals and providing relief to patients. The procedure is implant free, thereby preserving the overall structure of the spine. Due to the minimally invasive nature of the procedure, patients are able to resume daily activities sooner.
