Thomas Hospital Holds Groundbreaking For New Patient Tower

Thomas Hospital held a groundbreaking of its new patient tower on January 29. The new patient tower will include on-call physician and employee handicapped parking on the first floor, 25 medical-surgical beds on the second floor to increase inpatient care capacity and shell space on the remaining two floors designed for future use to accommodate the hospital’s growing services. Thomas Hospital said it is responding to Baldwin County’s 66% population increase over the past two decades by building a new patient tower to provide care to an expanding population. Over the past four years, Thomas Hospital has added 24 medical-surgical and intensive care beds to help meet the increasing demand. It partnered with healthcare construction company Hoar Construction in developing the tower.
