UnitedHealthcare Names CMO

UnitedHealthcare has announced Dr. Stephen Palte as chief medical officer (CMO) for UnitedHealthcare employer and individual plans of Georgia and Alabama. He is a board-certified internist and fellow of the American College of Physicians and has been with UnitedHealth Group, UnitedHealthcare’s parent company, for the past 12 years. In this role, he will work closely with Georgia and Alabama market leaders within United Clinical Services and Optum Enterprise Clinical Services. He will lead clinical partnerships within UnitedHealthcare’s delivery system to drive affordability, network, growth and quality. Palte served 20 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, during which time he qualified as a flight surgeon and was deployed eight times. He grew up in Zimbabwe and received his medical degree from the University of Cape Town in South Africa before emigrating to the United States to complete an internal medicine residency and general internal medicine fellowship at the University of Tennessee, Memphis.
