USA Health Breaks Ground On Ed In West Mobile

This week, USA Health held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new freestanding emergency department (ED) situated at the intersection of Hillcrest and Old Shell roads in Mobile. When complete, the modern facility will provide people who live and work in West Mobile with convenient access to the most advanced emergency and diagnostic care available in the region. USA Health has been developing its plans for the facility since receiving state approval through the Certificate of Need process in 2018. West Mobile and Mobile County as a whole have seen rapid growth in residential development in recent years. USA Health anticipates up to 15,000 patient visits per year at the location, which will operate 24/7. The facility, adjacent to the University of South Alabama’s (USA) main campus, will also help train new healthcare providers. The project, to take approximately 12 months, is budgeted for more than $14 million.
