Catholic Youth Organization Announces Volleyball Leader

The Catholic Youth Organization in Mobile has named Emily Lomax as its new K-2 instructional volleyball leader. A Mobile native, Lomax is a McGill-Toolen alum who played volleyball (1995-1998) and basketball (1995-1997). As a middle blocker for the Dirty Dozen, she earned numerous honors, including the Gatorade Alabama Player of the Year (1998) and Mobile Press Register Player of the Year (1997 and 1998). She was also named to Who’s Who in Sports (1998), the All-State Tournament Team (1997 and 1998), the All-Region Team (1997 and 1998 [MVP]) and the All-Area Team (1997 and 1998 [MVP]). She went on to play D1 volleyball at the University of Alabama (1998-2001), earning a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education and a master’s degree in social work. She now works as a social worker with Fresenius Kidney Care and lives in Mobile. She began coaching club volleyball in 2020 and recently completed her sixth season with Lower Alabama Volleyball.
