Donald Awarded Local Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award
Local attorney Moshae Elise Donald was awarded this year’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Award bestowed by the People United to Advance the Dream – Mobile. Donald is a native of Mobile, specifically the Toulminville community, and is the owner and founder of the Law Office of Moshae Donald. Donald received her degree in elementary education from Alabama A&M University and graduated summa cum laude. Thereafter, she earned her JD from Vanderbilt University. Her experience includes work with one of the largest civil defense firms in the Southeast and the U.S. Department of Justice, representation of Mobile County Public Schools teachers and personnel, representation of municipalities in Alabama, a federal practice with federal government agencies as clients, and representation of families and children in domestic and criminal matters. She has also served as both prosecutor and public defender for municipalities in Mobile County and has litigated hundreds of criminal trials. Donald is currently active with ICU Counseling & Mental Health Support Services, LLC. Additionally, she is an alumna of Connect Mobile, Leadership Mobile and the Alabama Leadership Initiative. She serves as project chair for Paint the Town Blue (an autism awareness project) and, in 2019, was honored with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2022, she was the Democratic nominee for Mobile County District Attorney, the first African-American to run for the role.
