Three Mobile Courtrooms Go Virtual

The City of Mobile has made three of its municipal courtrooms compatible for virtual court proceedings through a technology upgrade, WKRG recently reported. Audio, visual and network capability are said to be the first of their kind in an Alabama courtroom, with all three courtrooms able to upload and display digital evidence and host witnesses and officers via teleconference. The upgrades are expected to streamline the judicial process (particularly pretrial proceedings) and help cases move quicker. The city has also partnered with Mobile County’s circuit and district courts as they explore adding a similar system.
