$100-Million Aldi Hub Opens In Loxley

Supermarket chain Aldi has officially opened its regional headquarters and distribution center in Loxley, AL.com reported. The new hub will bring Aldi stores within range of approximately 8 million people along the Gulf Coast. The 150-acre hub just north of Exit 44 on I-10, where Highway 59 crosses the interstate, was announced two and a half years ago. Since, Aldi has opened three new stores in Mobile and two in Baldwin County, with another set to open in Fairhope in March. The company opened 20 stores in the region last year and aims to open 13 more this year. The new facility currently serves 30 stores and was designed to supply approximately 100. There are now 120 employees there, and 80 more full-time positions are expected to come.
