$16-Million Logistics Park Planned For Mobile

The Alabama Department of Commerce has announced a collaboration between Canadian National Railway (CN), Mississippi Export Railroad subsidiary Alabama Export Railroad and Ray-Mont Logistics to launch the first phase of a new logistics park in Mobile, Yellowhammer reports. The $16-million facility is to open its first phase, which will bag plastic pellets for containerized shipping around the world, in late 2021. The pellets shipped from the facility’s first phase are to be used in various applications, including packaging for fresh and frozen food. Eventually, the terminal will include two bagging lines in the Port of Mobile, where 50 jobs are expected to be created. The partnership brings to bear CN’s Class I freight railway network, which stretches for more than 20,000 mi. across Canada and through the U.S. Midwest and South.
