ALDI to Build HQ, Distribution Center In Loxley

Grocery retailer ALDI U.S. recently announced plans for a regional headquarters (HQ) and distribution center in Loxley to support its growth along the Gulf Coast, the Alabama Department of Commerce announced on its Made in Alabama website. It purchased 160 acres in the industrial and warehousing district north of Exit 44 on Interstate 10. The planned 564,000-ft2 facility is expected to bring approximately $100 million in capital investment and 200 jobs to Baldwin County. Construction is set for early next year, with completion within two years. Though the retailer has 30 stores in the state, this is its initial step in Baldwin County. It also plans to open 70 new stores by the end of the year across its entire footprint, which puts it on pace to become the third-largest U.S. grocer (by store count) by the end of 2022.
