Navy Grants Alabama Shipyard $26-Million-Plus Contract

The U.S. Navy awarded Mobile’s Alabama Shipyard a $26-million firm-fixed-price contract for a 150-calendar-day shipyard availability for the regular overhaul and dry docking of its Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort, Business Alabama reported. The contract includes 11 options that, if exercised, would bring the value to $28.5 million. Work will begin on March 1 and is expected to be complete by July 28.
