New Ocean Service At Port Of Mobile

MOBILE, Ala. — The Alabama Port Authority has announced a new ocean service to and from Central America for containerized cargo shippers. Sealand – a Maersk Co. introduced the “Bonita Express,” a direct, all-water service between the Port of Mobile, Puerto Cortes in Honduras and Santo Tomas de Castilla in Guatemala. The new ocean route provides rapid transit for North and Central American shippers and connectivity to inland markets in Nicaragua and El Salvador. The inaugural vessel Asian Moon called the Port Authority’s container terminal on May 18, discharging and loading a balance of imports and export containers. The authority noted that the Inter-American Development Bank reported earlier this year that Honduras and Guatemala trade with the U.S. posted year-over-year growth of 49.9% in 2020 and 20.5% in 2021.
