Two Global Businesses Commit To SALP In Theodore

Two new global businesses are locating warehousing and distribution facilities in Theodore’s South Alabama Logistics Park (SALP), representatives of the under-construction logistics park announced. The businesses, Simpson Strong-Tie and VEYER, a subsidiary of Office Depot, are locating at SALP due to the site’s proximity (roughly 12 miles) to the Port of Mobile’s container terminal. Simpson Strong-Tie is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of structural construction products, including steel connectors, fasteners, anchors and other solutions used in building safer, stronger structures. The company is making a total investment of $7.5 million and creating 16 jobs with the commitment. VEYER, a third-party logistics provider for fulfillment, distribution, warehousing, transportation and final-mile delivery services, will bring 18 jobs with a total investment of $9.8 million. Additionally, VEYER will be rerouting its supply line for SALP. SALP is already home to DC Safety, Averitt Express and Chadwell Supply. In total, there is an investment of more than $100 million and roughly 200 new jobs there. SALP has more than 500,000 ft2 of facilities constructed and enough capacity for an additional 10 million ft2.
