Airbus Opens Third FAL

Airbus recently opened its third Final Assembly Line (FAL) at the Brookley Aeroplex in Mobile. This is its second FAL for its A320 aircraft, and it will eventually double the production of one of the two passenger planes built on the Airbus campus. Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said the FAL will support continued expansion at Airbus and attract even more high-wage jobs. In the 10 years since Airbus opened its first FAL, more than 2,000 employees have been hired, and more than 30 suppliers have moved to Mobile. Stimpson added that the city is on track to become the fourth-largest hub for aerospace production in the world. Airbus North America CEO Robin Hayes said, “We wouldn’t be building this here if we didn’t have a great deal of confidence in the workforce right here in Alabama.”
