Airbus To Continue Hiring Run

Airbus recently announced plans to hire 800 people in the U.S. in 2023, including at its Mobile site, where it is expanding assembly facilities for its popular A321 family of jetliners, AL.com is among outlets to report. The planned U.S. hires are separate from a target of 800 hires this year in Canada. Out of the 800 U.S. jobs, more than 500 will fill new positions. Airbus has set ambitious goals for a production increase for its A320 family. Within a few years, it aims to produce 75 of the aircraft per month globally. Work on its new assembly line in Mobile, which could mean 1,000 new jobs, has begun, and the line should begin production in the second quarter of 2025. “After recruiting more than 1,500 employees in 2022, we are maintaining our momentum and hiring at least another 800 across the country in 2023,” said C. Jeffrey Knittel, president and CEO of Airbus Americas. Roles to be filled in Mobile include engineering, IT, procurement, quality, production and support.
