Airbus Completes Massive Hangar

Airbus has just completed building its new Final Assembly Line Hangar (FAL). Its 270,000 ft2 doubles the size of Airbus’ Mobile site at Brookley Field. The FAL will become the second production site for a new model of jet, the A220, a single-aisle commercial aircraft. The new jet will be sold to Delta Airlines and new Airbus customer JetBlue. Airbus’ Paul Gaskel, president of A220 USA and head of the A220 program of Mobile, expressed excitement at the new building and new customer: “The expansion of our commercial aircraft production in Mobile… further solidifies Airbus’ standing as a truly global aircraft manufacturer and confirms that Airbus remains an important part of the American manufacturing landscape.”
