Mobile-Themed Monopoly Game Unveiled
The Mobile-themed version of Monopoly was recently unveiled, AL.com is among outlets to report. The Mobile game was announced approximately a year ago, when local input was invited for the custom game. The new game board makes “Mardi Gras” and “Bienville Square” as the premium “Park Place” and “Boardwalk” properties. The four railroad spots are filled by “The Bankhead Tunnel” and “Take the Causeway,” plus an airboat on one side and Airbus on the other. The two utility spots bear the brand of Knockout Inspections. The other property squares are “Petal & Groove Flowers,” “Bellingrath Gardens & Home,” “Bragg-Mitchell Mansion,” “Conde-Charlotte Museum House,” “Mobile Carnival Museum,” “Magical Christmas in Lights,” “MoonPie Drop,” “Urban Emporium,” “Wintzell’s Oyster House,” “Toomey’s Mardi Gras,” “Braided River Brewing Co.,” “Bishop State Community College,” “University of Mobile,” “University of South Alabama,” “Malaga Inn,” “ Saenger Theatre,” “Mobile Convention Center,” “Checkers” (with a note saying the company was founded in Mobile), “Mo’Bay Beignet Co.” and “Yellowhammer Coffee.” The “Community Chest” cards mention many of the same entities but also include winning the Liars Contest at the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo, contributing to the preservation of Africatown’s heritage and history or having to buy hurricane supplies. With the “Chance” cards, you might pick up a little money after being selected as USA’s Southpaw mascot, or you might take a beating on flood insurance.
