Sealls To Retire In January

NBC 15 reports that Chief Meteorologist Alan Sealls will retire from television in January 2024. Sealls, who joined WPMI in 2020, has been delivering weather forecasts in the Mobile market as a chief meteorologist for 24 years. He has been celebrated with numerous accolades throughout his career, including 14 regional Emmy awards. He was honored as the Best Weather Anchor by the Alabama Associated Press Broadcasters Association on four occasions and received the recognition three times from the Alabama Broadcasters Association. Notably, the American Meteorological Society (AMS) honored him with an award for excellence in science reporting for a three-part series he produced on climate change, and in 2019, he won the AMS Award for Broadcast Meteorology in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public science education. Prior to WPMI, Sealls held positions at WKRG in Mobile, at NBC and WGN in Chicago, and at WTMJ-TV & Radio in Milwaukee. He began his career in Albany, Georgia, at WALB. His career as a meteorologist is featured in a children’s book Capturing the Sky: The True Story of How Alan Sealls Became the Best Weatherman Ever.
