SHC Student Media Receives Three College Media Awards

Spring Hill College (SHC) Student Media recently won three accolades in the College Media Association’s College Media Pinnacle Awards. The special issue of The SpringHillian newspaper devoted to the inauguration of Dr. Mary Van Brunt as president of SHC won first place in the "Best Special Section/More than Four pages" category. The commemorative issue was produced by students Tori Ellis, Peri Carr, Fae Fox, Nate Polk and Samantha Gonzalez. SHC Marketing & Communications’ Corey Jenkins provided the photography used in the issue. Fox also received a second-place win in the "Best Video Special Event Coverage" category for her story covering the opening of the Janden Richards Center for Community Collaboration in May. Natalie Williamson received third place in the "Best Use of Short (sub 3-min) Video for News & Information" category for her coverage of campus action taken over mold concerns in residence hall rooms in October 2022. These submissions were judged against colleges with an enrollment fewer than 3,000. Earlier this year, SHC student media content received five awards, including three first-place finishes, in the Catholic Media Association’s St. Juan Diego Collegiate Awards.
