Megan Montgomery Foundation Launches Speakers Bureau

The Megan Montgomery Foundation, a statewide nonprofit based in Birmingham with a mission to prevent relationship violence before it starts by educating people about the early signs of unhealthy relationships and how to build healthy ones before abuse begins, has launched the Counselors Speakers Bureau, made up of licensed mental health professionals from across the state. These experts are available to speak at no cost to schools, churches, civic clubs and other local organizations to bring clear, practical education to communities. In the Mobile area, the effort is led by Leslie Weaver, director of counseling services and violence prevention at Spring Hill College. The foundation has awarded $270,000 in grants to nonprofits and educational institutions across Alabama.
