Project Homeless Connect, Count Coming Up

Mobile’s Housing First, Inc. (HFI) has announced its 2025 Project Homeless Connect event, taking place on January 24 at The Grounds in Mobile. It has taken place each year since 2014 and is made possible by partnerships between HFI and local service providers, organizations and community members. It connects those experiencing homelessness with services including healthcare, legal assistance, housing assistance, veteran’s resources, employment services, hygiene services, clothing, supplies, education, identification and other vital assistance, for free. Free transportation from multiple pickup locations in Mobile and Baldwin counties is provided for all persons experiencing homelessness. For more information on this initiative, contact Sharon Algood at phone: 251-445-8016 or email. Additionally, during the last week of January, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development requires communities receiving federal funding for homeless programs to conduct a count of those using shelters annually. HFI is asking for individual volunteers and organizations for its annual point-in-time survey, taking place on January 23 in two shifts—day and night. Adult volunteers will conduct brief interviews with willing participants and distribute care packages at known sleeping locations for those experiencing homelessness. Each team will be led by an experienced captain. For more information on the survey, contact Leon Bell, Jr. at email.
