YMCA Receives $50,000 From SAWDC

The YMCA of South Alabama recently received a $50,000 investment by the South Alabama Workforce Development Council (SAWDC) to help expand childcare services and support working families across its South Alabama service area. The funding is to help increase access, particularly in Mobile and surrounding communities. As workforce demands continue to grow across the region, the organization is expanding its role as a childcare provider. It currently provides afterschool care and summer day camp programs. Through the support of funding and community donors, YMCA can provide financial assistance to help ensure these programs remain accessible to families, regardless of their ability to pay. This investment is to help lay the foundation for expanding those services and growing into additional childcare offerings, including more traditional , full-day care options. This will be SAWDC’s final investment in YMCA of South Alabama, as it was dissolved last year.
