Downtown Mobile Becoming Housing Hotspot

With the opening of the Greer’s St Louis Market set for July 29 in downtown Mobile, the addition of an Ace Hardware across the street and the growth in residential properties, Downtown Mobile is quickly becoming the “hot spot” in town, according to a recent article by NBC 15. According to the Downtown Mobile Alliance Carol Hunter, the conversion of the Merchants Bank Tower to residential and retail is now approximately 70% leased; Meridian at the Port, a 267-unit apartment complex, is now 98% leased; and The Gateway, a new upscale complex coming to old City Hall North is soon to come on line. “All of those projects that were underway during the shutdown,” Hunter said. “Work on those projects continued nonstop during 2020… and they were recently completed and ready for their big reveal to the public.”
