Merrill P. Thomas July 28 Updates

Mike Reid, Merrill P. Thomas Co., Inc., represented the seller Norville Group, LLC in the sale of approximately 291 acres on Halls Mill Road in Mobile to Mobile County. This area in the Dog River Watershed was purchased with revenues collected under the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006 to permanently preserve and protect the area’s unique ecosystem as the “City of Mobile Halls Mill Creek Public Access Project.”The parcels purchased are “one of the largest, and most pristine, contiguous undeveloped acreages of bottomland hardwood wetlands remaining in the Greater Dog River Watershed,” according to the announcement. “Preserving these 291 acres of extreme biodiversity helps protect critical vegetation, as well as habitats for endangered species like manatees and bald eagles. It will also contribute to the long-term health of the Dog River Watershed.” Additionally, Pratt Thomas represented both the buyer (CRIMSIMF Inc., an Illinois corporation) and the seller (Rev. Thomas J. Rodi) in the sale of 1341 West I-65 Service Road North in Mobile. The 10 acres of land with 600 ft of frontage of unobstructed I-65 visibility is located in Mobile County’s “Opportunity Zone,” with easy access to both I-65 North and South. The buyers plan on developing this property in the near future.
