Mobile Celebrates First New Home In Campground Neighborhood

Mobile Mayor Spiro Cheriogotis and District 2 City Councilwoman Samantha Ingram recently celebrated the first homes built through the city’s Housing Improvement Program (HIP). The ribbon-cutting marked the first in a series of affordable homes to be built through HIP, a public-private partnership dedicated to revitalizing the historic Campground area of Mobile. The program’s goal is to build 30 affordable homes across 30 blocks in the neighborhood, reducing blight and bringing families back to the area. The first home built through the HIP was constructed by Heritage Homes and will be purchased by a Mobile Police officer. Two additional homes have been completed as part of the program, and others are currently in the design and permitting process. Figures Construction and Development is overseeing the program.
