Goodwill Gulf Coast Breaks Ground On Large Facility In Foley

A groundbreaking ceremony was held on October 1 to mark the start of construction for a new 50,000-ft2 Goodwill Gulf Coast facility at 200 East Azalea Avenue in Foley, creating a new retail store, outlet store, donation center and opportunity center to serve Baldwin County. “This will be the only facility in our 10-county service area that combines all four types of our stores and centers in one convenient location,” said Frank Harkins, president and CEO of Goodwill Gulf Coast. Construction of the new facility is projected to take approximately one year, with an anticipated grand opening in fall 2025. Goodwill Gulf Coast is working with partners Randall & Paulson Architects, development partner Piedmont Cos. and construction company Rogers & Willard. Goodwill Gulf Coast currently operates 10 retail stores, two outlet stores, 10 standalone donation centers and five opportunity centers throughout its 10-county service area in Southwest Alabama and Northwest Florida. Eighty-nine percent of what Goodwill Gulf Coast spends provides support for programs and services offered to the community, including job training and placement services, as well as support programs for children, youth and parents. In fiscal year 2023, Goodwill Gulf Coast provided more than 20,000 services to 13,219 individuals, encompassing people of all ages and abilities.
