McCoy Outdoor Sold

McCoy Outdoor Co. has come under new ownership, Lagniappe reports. Mobile natives and lifelong outdoor enthusiasts Dr. Carter Thomas and Dr. Robin Hollon officially announced their purchase of the company on April 1. McCoy Outdoor, which began as a gun and fishing shop, has evolved over five decades into a multispecialty outfitter offering running gear, travel accessories, apparel and outdoor essentials. The store was founded in 1975 by Steve McCoy. Longtime owner Dubby Hannon took over operations in 2002 and led the business for more than two decades. Longtime staff will remain in place, including Joe Sims, a well-known local expert in running shoe fittings, and the store will continue to carry top brands of firearms, fishing and outdoor gear. At the same time, McCoy will attempt to expand its reach with broader selections.
