Wawa Breaks Ground On First Mobile Location, Two More Announced

Wawa broke ground at its first store in Mobile and confirmed the locations of two more to come at a groundbreaking event at the intersection of Cottage Hill and Sollie roads in West Mobile in November, AL.com reports. The store is projected to open in late 2024. The groundbreaking in Mobile was the second in the region, after one held in June in Fairhope. The additional sites under contract are at the intersection of Schillinger and Old Government Street roads in West Mobile and another at Schillinger and Silver Pine roads in Semmes. Wawa invests approximately $6.5 million in each new store, and each location employs 35 to 40 associates. In conjunction with the event, Wawa presented a $5,000 donation to Feeding the Gulf Coast, which officials said would pay for 25,000 meals for people in need.
