Bayside Wins 19th Straight Title, Sets National Record

This week, Bayside Academy continued its volleyball dynasty at Bill Harris Arena by beating No. 8 West Point (50-16) 25-17, 25-7 and 25-10 to win the Class 5A state volleyball championship, according to AL.com. The Admirals (52-4) set a national record with a 19th straight title and 29th overall. The team, under Coach Ann Schilling, has been ranked No. 1 since 2008 and improved to 135-3 all-time in the state playoffs, with the most recent loss coming to Geraldine in the 2001 semifinals. The Admirals have won state championships every year since 1992, except in 1994, 1997 and 2001. With the 5A state title under its belt, the school is also the first to own titles in Classes 1A, 2A, 3A, 4A and 5A.
