Gulf Shores Pier Reopens

Gulf State Park Pier in Gulf Shores reopened on January 30. Approximately 725 ft of it has been repaired and will be accessible for anglers on both sides since the destruction caused by Hurricane Sally on September 16, 2020 (Gulf State Park Pier Set To Reopen). The remaining southern portion of the structure, which sustained significantly greater damage, will remain closed. The pier features major upgrades from a recent $2.4-million renovation project, including all its wood decking and railings having been upgraded with sustainably sourced ipe, a durable wood with high longevity. Turtle-friendly lighting all around and upgrade fish-cleaning and restroom facilities round out the refurbishment. Its hours are 24/7, with staff onsite between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. In accordance with COVID-19 guidelines, the maximum capacity is 200.
